Thanks for the kind words.

As far as Countdown goes, *sigh*

My enthusiasm is quickly waning as well.

Hey guys! I'm really enjoying the podcasts. It feels like a lot of the conversations we have at my local LCS, maybe a little more organized. The way you've structured it, with the three main topics and the regular features, is appealing and satisfying.

I wish I could share the enthusiasm some of you have for Countdown, but it's still feeling like the deleted scenes of the DC DVD: there are some nuggets of enjoyment in there, and the writing within scenes isn't bad, but it all feels so disjointed and lacking in context.

I especially responded to the discussion of all-ages comics. I'm a children's librarian who is responsible for buying our graphic novel and trade paperback collection. As a librarian who believes strongly in freedom for readers, I'm wary of censoring a collection for content, but as a servant of children and their parents, I have to consider a basic level of age-appropriate material. We get Marvel Adventures, DC's animated stuff, Showcase Presents, Essentials, Marvel Masterworks, Ultimate FF and Spidey, plus standing orders that send us the newest trade collections. The last one can be tricky -- I had to donate our copy of Kevin Smith's Black Cat rape series of Spider-Man to our Young Adult collection.

We've amassed a decent collection in the last few years, but there are still so many superhero titles I'm reluctant to add to the children's collection, not only for the sexuality you mention, but also for some of the more explicit gore. Some of our adult patrons want me to buy Infinite Crisis. Aside from the fact that I'd feel sort of obligated to also buy the four lead-in miniseries, Superman: Sacrifice, and a bunch of other things just to provide some hope of understanding the story, I'm wary of exposing kids to stuff like Black Adam's Three Stooges move on Psycho Pirate. Or Ted Kord's final moment. Shots like that would earn a movie an R rating, wouldn't they? IC would be great for a teen/adult collection, and we certainly don't stop interested kids from checking out stuff from the teen and adult collections. Unfortunately, the people that do get to buy for that area don't know or care about comics; their most recent acquisitions have been donated single issues of random quarter-bin crap from the 80s.

Anyway, good stuff from you guys. I look forward to the next one.
